A 50 plus year Halloween tradition is back at the Lincoln Children’s Zoo. Boo at the Zoo begins Tuesday night and runs through Saturday evening. President and CEO John Chapo tells KLIN News they will have more than 30 trick-or-treat stations set up between 5:30-8 p.m.
“It’s decorated, we’ve got goodies all kinds of things,” Chapo says. “It’s a lot of fun for families, it’s great for kids school age and younger. We encourage everybody to come in costumes, it’s not mandatory but it just adds to the fun.”
Chapo says you can get tickets for the event at the gate or pre-order them here. Trick or treat bags come with each paid admission. If the zoo parking lot fills up, Chapo says StarTran will provide free shuttle service from two overflow locations. “You’ll park in either Lincoln High’s Parking lot or Antelope Park and StarTran will bring you right to the zoo, you go trick-or-treating, you get back on the bus and they’ll take you right back to your cars.”
He says wearing costumes is encouraged, but not mandatory. Chapo says all of the money raised will directly support the Zoo and its animals.
