The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Temple Building will transform into Lincoln’s only haunted attraction with the opening of ShakesFear at the Haunted Temple.

Not for the faint of heart, the immersive theater experience produced by the Nebraska Repertory Theatre will frighten guests along a twisted journey to discover one of Shakespeare’s lost plays. Trained actors and professional production designers will deliver bone-chilling jump scares and mis-directions for thrill-seekers and Shakespeare fans alike. Created by Andy Park and Kevin Rich, ShakesFear is a haunted house that seeks to return Shakespeare to its populist roots while scaring and entertaining a diverse audience.

Co-Creator Andy Park tells KLIN News, “It is animatronics and other pneumatic devices. We have lasers and special effects. We also have actors. This is very well crafted. I think this is beautifully acted. It is scary but it also has a wonderful narrative to it. You go into forests. Enter a huge castle and meet so many of his characters.”

Park says a lost play of Shakespeare has been recovered and his other characters come back to life to prevent you from hearing it. The actors are from the Nebraska Repertory Theatre. .

ShakesFear is not recommended for those under age 13. It opens October 15th and runs through the 31st. It takes about 15 minutes to complete the attraction.   Tickets can be purchased online in advance for $15-$20. For a complete list of show times and tickets, visit https://nebraskarep.org.
