A man is facing charges after Lincoln Police were called to 1st and C Streets around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 12th. Officers received calls that a man was yelling and running while holding a large knife.
Officers located 36 year old Mathew Heath near 1st and F Streets. He initially ran from officers but eventually turned around with the knife in his hand and started walking toward them. Officers were able to deescalate the situation and Heath dropped the knife and walked away from it. Heath was then taken into custody without further incident.
There was a felony outstanding warrant for his arrest and another warrant for trespassing. Officers also learned that Heath is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing weapons.
Heath was booked for the outstanding warrants and possession of a weapon by a prohibited person.
