No one was hurt after fire broke out in an apartment building near 10th and Washington just after 1:00 Tuesday afternoon.  “On arrival there was active fire and smoke from a second story window,” says LFR’s Nancy Crist.  “We were able to find the scene of the fire right away.  Everybody was evacuating the residence at the time.”

Crist credits working smoke detectors for alerting the residents and allowing them to get out safely.  She says there was considerable fire damage.  “The damage did get into the whole apartment on that second floor and up into the attic space.”

Crist says fire crews made a good stop on the fire to prevent it from spreading to other units.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.
