By Kaleb Henry Sep 27, 2021 | 9:53 AM

Homecoming Weekend is set to be busy for Nebraska Athletics.

Beginning Friday and running through Sunday, NU will have more than a half dozen sports involved in some form or fashion.

Highlighting the weekend is the football game as Nebraska hosts Northwestern. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m., marking the second consecutive week the Huskers will play a game in prime time.

Both the 2020 and 2021 classes of the Nebraska Athletics Hall of Fame will be inducted Friday afternoon outside of East Stadium. The 2020 Class did not have an induction ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2020 Class includes Amanda Burgoyne (Bowling, 2004-07); Eric Crouch (Football, 1997-2001); the late Sam Francis (Football and Track and Field, 1935-37), Maurtice Ivy (Women’s Basketball, 1985-88); Jordan Larson (Volleyball, 2005-08); Terry Pettit (Volleyball Head Coach (1977-99), while the 2021 Class consists of Therese Alshammar (Women’s Swimming and Diving, 1998-99); Jordan Burroughs (Wrestling, 2007-11); the late Bob Cerv (Baseball and Men’s Basketball, 1947-50); Kelsey Griffin (Women’s Basketball, 2006-10); Larry Jacobson (Football, 1969-71) and Cathy Noth (Volleyball, 1981-84).

The Husker Football Letterman’s Association is hosting a reunion weekend with a luncheon Friday for former players that were seniors during the 1961, 1971, 1981, 1991, 2001 and 2011 seasons. An all-player reunion will be held that evening with more that 250 former players expected.

Former players will also be part of a pre-game tailgate party and recognized during Saturday’s football game.

Nebraska volleyball will play twice over the weekend, hosting Michigan Friday and Michigan State Sunday. The Friday match will honor the 1990 NCAA Semifinal team. Sunday’s match will honor both the 2000 and 2001 Husker teams that combined to go 65-2 with a national championship.

The beginning of October will also bring the beginning of Husker hoops. Opening Night is Friday where fans can meet bot the men’s and women’s basketball teams. Entry into Pinnacle Bank Arena is free to the public. The men’s team will scrimmage with a performance by hip-hop artist G Herbo to follow.
