Lincoln Police were called to a home at 24th and Washington Street on September 14th after receiving a call from a man who reported having lots of firearms and he wanted to kill the SWAT Team. Officers arrived and spoke with 24 year old Erik Ackman over the phone. A friend and a family member had arrived at Ackman’s home after they received concerning messages.

When they arrived, Ackman threatened them with a handgun, pushing it against the friend’s chest. The family member reported she saw Ackman fire the gun into the floor of the home. The left the residence in fear.

Due to the dangerous and volatile situation, the SWAT team was utilized and a search warrant obtained for the home. After a lengthily negotiation, Ackman came out of the home and was taken into custody around 11:30 p.m. Once inside, officers found a number of firearms and evidence of a handgun being discharged inside.

Ackman was taken to the Crisis Center for treatment and evaluation.

On September 21st at 3:30 p.m., Ackman was released from the CenterĀ  and taken to jail where he was booked for unlawful discharge of a firearm and for making terroristic threats.
