Lincoln Police were called to the 800 block of N 26th Street around noon on Tuesday, September 21st to investigate a burglary. A woman reported that the door to her apartment had been kicked in and a 14 week old Pitbull puppy she was watching was taken.
Later in the day the woman reported she received information that 37 year old Jayvon Lipscomb took the puppy. She contacted Lipscomb at a vacant property nearby and took the puppy back.
Around 4 p.m., LPD tried to contact Lipscomb, who also had two outstanding traffic warrants. A real estate company old police the property was being remodeled and was supposed to be vacant. As officers searched the property, they heard noises coming from a bedroom and found a door barricaded. Officers tried to negotiate with Lipscomb who refused to come out of the room.
Officers eventually forced entry and took Lipscomb into custody. He had used screws to hold the door shut. Lipscomb was arrested for the outstanding warrants and was cited and released for misdemeanor trespassing and misdemeanor possession of stolen property.
