Quarantined LPS Students Will Receive Video Lessons

By Tom Stanton Sep 15, 2021 | 11:19 AM

24 teacher volunteers will develop English language arts and mathematics lessons for K-5 grade students that cannot attend classes due to COVID related issues. Superintendent Dr Steve Joel updated LPS Board members at Tuesday’s regular meeting.

“So that elementary students, which is where we think we’ll have the largest number of exclusions occur, they will be able to at least get those two subjects,” Joel says.

Joel says the volunteers will be paid a stipend to produce recorded video lessons in math and reading that will assist students and parents when students have to learn at home for an extended time due to school exclusions.

Joel also updated the board on the COVID-19 in schools.  “We feel really good about where we are as a district right now.  “We’ve not had the surges, we’ve not had to close classrooms, we’ve certainly haven’t had to close schools.”
