A 67 year old woman called Lincoln Police Monday afternoon to report a phone call she received from someone claiming to be with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office. The victim told police she was informed she had two warrants for her arrest for failing to appear for jury duty. The woman spoke to several people claiming to be law enforcement from several agencies who confirmed the warrant.

The woman was told the total fines were $1,800. She was told to buy Green Dot cards from Hy-Vee, give them the card numbers and mail the cards to the 575 S 10th Street, the address of both the Lincoln Police Department and the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

These suspects have not ben identified and the investigation is ongoing.

As a reminder, legitimate law enforcement will never ask you to pay fines in this method.
