Governor Pete Ricketts has designated September as Child Welfare Workforce Development Month in Nebraska. At a Monday news conference, Nebraska first-lady Suzanne Shore shared some data points from the Annie E Casey Foundation “Kids Count” data book showing Nebraska is ranked 7th among all states, up from 9th in 2020 and 12th in 2019.
The governor and first lady were joined by Department of Health and Human Services Director Stephanie Beasley and Mary Jo Pankoke, President and CEO of Nebraska Children and Families Foundation.
During the news conference data from the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s “Kids Count” study were given showing Nebraska improved in the state rankings in spite of the COVID-19 pandemic this past year.
