LPD: Man On Stolen Bike Steals Vehicle From Dealership

By Tom Stanton Sep 9, 2021 | 11:22 AM

A man is facing charges after a vehicle was stolen from a Lincoln auto dealership.  On September Wednesday around 4 a.m. officers were called to the area of 71st and Huntington for a suspicious vehicle.  As officers arrived, the vehicle left the area and officers discovered the license plates on the vehicle were fictitious.

The officer conducted a traffic stop near 69th and Garland and contacted the driver, 28-year-old Keipher Williams and two passengers.  When officers checked the VIN, they found the 2002 green Jeep Liberty had been stolen from H.I.S Auto at 70th and Van Dorn on September 6th.

Officers determined Williams had picked up the two passengers who did not know the vehicle was stolen.  Officers took Williams into custody and arrested him for felony Theft by Receiving and Driving during Suspension.  As officers reviewed video from H.I.S. Auto, they saw a person who was identified as Williams to arrive on a bicycle and then leave it behind after stealing the vehicle.

The bicycle was determined to have been stolen on September 6th from the 3100 block of S 72nd Street.  Williams was cited for theft in that case as well.  Officers found the license plate on the Jeep were registered to HyVee at 7151 Stacy Lane.  They indicated it was stolen from a vehicle parked in the lot between September 6th and 8th.

The investigation into the stolen plate is still ongoing.
