Six Dogs Rescued From New Orleans Now In Lincoln

By Tom Stanton Sep 7, 2021 | 3:27 PM

Six dogs rescued from New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Ida will find new homes in Lincoln. Shannon Martin Roebuck with Capital Humane Society says volunteers drove down to Louisiana Saturday and brought the dogs back from a shelter that was without power.

“And that helped allow them to make room for new animals coming in,” Martin Roebuck says.  “People in their community down there had to surrender animals because of the storm or just find temporary housing for them because they didn’t have power themselves.”

The dogs arrived in Lincoln on Monday and have had health exams. Five of the six will be ready to be adopted Wednesday through Friday.  The dogs range in size and are between a few months and about seven years old.  Martin Roebuck says families interested in adopting one of the dogs can call 402-441-4488 to make an appointment to see if a dog would be a good fit.
