Lincoln firefighters were able to quickly contain a fire that broke out inside the Firstar Fiber Shipping and Receiving Warehouse north of 48th and Superior just after 9:00 Wednesday morning.
“Fire in a cardboard compactor. Arrived on location and found smoke exiting the structure from a garage door,” says Battalion Chief Bob Watton. He says everyone was out and no injuries were reported. He says it took about ten minutes to extinguish.
The fire was confined to the compactor and there was a lot of smoke, but Watton says there was no structural damage. He says due to the heat and humidity they brought in extra firefighters to rotate so none of them get dehydrated.
