12 Day Band Together Blood Drive Starts Thursday

By Karla James Aug 25, 2021 | 11:06 AM

One year ago, Lincoln Police Officer Mario Herrera was shot in the line of duty. Despite receiving many blood transfusions and phenomenal care from our local hospitals and first responders, Officer Herrera did not survive his injuries. Today, his friends and family want to give back in his honor and invite you to a special 12 Days of Hope campaign to help save lives.

Investigator Mario Herrera

With the help of life-sustaining blood given by generous donors, Mario and his family were given 12 extra days together following this tragic event before he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
