Omaha Man Sentenced For Sex Trafficking Of A Minor

By Tom Stanton Jul 29, 2021 | 8:49 AM

A 26 year old Omaha man has been sentenced in federal court for Sex Trafficking of a Minor.  A judge sentenced Glenn Whitney to 250 months in prison.

There is no parole in the federal prison system.  After his release from prison, Whitney will serve 5 years of supervised release and will be required to register as a sex offender.  Federal agents began investigating in September 2020, after an Omaha foster child was reported missing.

The investigation showed that the 16-year-old victim engaged in commercial sex acts in the Omaha area with Whitney directing the minor victim, including where to conduct acts and how much to charge and receiving financial proceeds from those acts.  The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.

Led by United States Attorney’s Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
