By Karla James Jul 28, 2021 | 11:00 AM

A 43 year old woman is out thousands of dollars after falling for a scam.

A concerned party contacted Lincoln Police to investigate around 11 Tuesday morning. The woman told police that she received a text message that someone needed $43,000 to get a package out of customs. It is not known if the victim believed she knew the person sending text messages but somehow felt compelled to send money.

Between June 8th and July 18th, the woman sent three payments by mail totaling $24,600. The packages were verified and a tracking number shows they were picked up. It is not known by who or where they went. The investigation continues.
