Ongoing Dispute Leads To Gunfire At Raymond Winery

By Tom Stanton Jul 23, 2021 | 12:07 PM

The Lancaster County Sheriff says an ongoing dispute between a woman operating Windcrest Winery near Raymond and a man who works there led to gunfire Thursday evening.

Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner says 58 year old Cynthia Koester is leasing to own the winery at 3110 W. Branched Oak Road and hired a 43-year-old man to help manage the business.  They both live on the property and Wagner says deputies have been called there several times in the past week or so regarding the ongoing dispute.

At around 5:00 p.m. Thursday Wagner says Koester texted the victim “playtime’s over” and the victim heard a single gunshot, immediately after getting the text.   Deputies confiscated a 38-caliber Smith and Wesson revolver with one spent round and five live rounds inside.

Koester was arrested for terroristic threats and the use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.
