A man is facing charges after police were called to the 4800 block of North 15th Street around 3:40 Sunday afternoon for a vehicle theft and kidnapping.

Officers learned the suspect had taken a car with two 12 year old boys inside. Officers were interviewing the victims and witnesses and searching the area when the vehicle pulled up with 32 year old Anthony Grandel behind the wheel.

According to the boys and adult family members, the two asked permission from the sister of one of the boys to get something out of the vehicle. The sister gave the okay and gave them the keys. They were sitting in the car listening to music when Grandel walked up and asked to drive the vehicle. The boys said no but Grandel got in the car and started driving around the neighborhood.

Despite pleas from the boys to stop. Grandel continued to drive around. He finally returned the vehicle to the residence and officers were waiting.

Grandel was cited and booked for unauthorized use of a propelled device and for two counts of child abuse.
