No serious injuries were reported after a man crashed into the back of a Hastings Police vehicle shortly after midnight Saturday.
Hastings Police say officers were investigating a hit and run accident on the south side of town.
A patrol unit was parked partially on the roadway with red and blue lights activated as well as a rear flashing yellow arrow stick to divert traffic left around the crash.
While officers were on scene they noticed a pickup travelling towards them that did not appear to be slowing. Officers were able to run out of the way before the pickup crashed into the back of the patrol unit. The 19-year-old driver was the only person in the pickup and sustained minor injuries.
After a thorough investigation the driver was arrested for DUI. The department says they are thankful the driver only suffered minor injuries and that the officers were not hurt.
