Lincoln Police stopped a vehicle near North 27th Street and Theresa Street around 7:45 Friday night for straddling the lane lines. Officers contacted the driver, 40 year old David Montoya.
LPD says after consenting to a search, officers found 1.5 grams of a substance that pre-tested positive for methamphetamine, $701 in U.S. currency and a loaded .22 caliber handgun in the vehicle. Montoya has a previous conviction for conspiracy to deliver cocaine which prohibits him from owning a firearm.
Officers determined that the gun had been stolen from North Platte in July of 2019. Officers cited and booked Montoya for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, Possession of a Stolen Firearm and Possession of a Money While Violating a Controlled Substance Statute.
