Lincoln Police were called to the 400 block of N 25th Street to investigate an assault around 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 15th.  Police spoke with a 53 year old man who said he had been assaulted by a man earlier at a social gathering.  The man had threatened to come back an assault him when he left.

Later that morning, that man and two others arrived at the victim’s apartment.  Two of the men assaulted the victim and another 51 year old man.  Both suffered injuries to their head, arms and legs.  One of the other two men produced a handgun and pointed it at the victims.  All three men then left before officers arrived.  The injuries were not serious.

The man who produced the handgun was described as wearing an ankle monitor.  Officers followed up with the parole office who stated that Brian Hassenplug was on parole and wearing an ankle monitor and was at the location at the time of the assault.  Officers also determined that Hassenplug was the person who threatened the victims with the gun.

Hassenplug was found at his home at 24th and R around 2 p.m. on Thursday and was arrested for use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony and for terroristic threats.  The handgun has not been located.

This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to call Lincoln Police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
