The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office investigated a two vehicle, injury crash on Highway 43, between Roca Road and Wittstruck Road Thursday, July 1, 2021. Bennet Fire and Rescue, Lincoln Fire and Rescue and Star Care also responded.
Roger Hoback, a 58 year old resident of Nebraska City, was driving his 2015 Nissan Altima northbound on Highway 43 when he crossed left of center. Hoback then struck a southbound 2000 Peterbilt 379 semi truck head on.
The truck was driven by 47 year old Brandon Parker of Firth. Parker suffered minor injuries and did not require transport to the hospital from the scene.
Hoback was transported to Bryan Medical Center West Campus by Star Care with serious injuries.
Monday, July 4, 2021, Hoback died as a result of complications involving his injuries. Seatbelts are believed to have been in use by both drivers and neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to have been involved.
The crash remains under investigation.
