Lincoln Police were called to the Nebraska Safety Council office at 3720 Folkways Drive at 10 a.m. on June 29th to investigate a burglary. Staff reported that someone had forced their way through a 2nd story balcony door and several items were out of place. Police processed the scene for evidence that included fingerprints.

An officer was following up with staff on Thursday when they reported that someone again had entered the building overnight and took a jacket, used the restroom and rummaged through other things.

The officer next followed up with the ID lab and learned the fingerprints belonged to 26 year old Robert Hillard. Earlier that morning Hillard had been arrested on a previous warrant and the jacket that was taken was in his possession. The officer contacted Hillard at the jail and he was arrested for burglary and 1st degree trespassing.

The theft loss is estimated at $20 for the jacket and damage to the door is estimated at $100.
