Lincoln Police caught a burglary suspect in the act just before midnight Saturday at the Winners Circle Auto Center at 702 West “O” Street. Someone called 911 to say the heard glass breaking and saw a person in dark clothing near the business. When officers arrived, they found a window to the business broken and a man crouched down beside a vehicle on the west side of the business.
As officers attempted to contact the man, he ran from them. A short time later was taken into custody without further incident. Officers identified the man as 22-year-old Jesan Edmiston. During a search of Edmiston officers found a hammer, keys, flashlights, screwdriver and safety glasses and observed him to be wearing gloves.
The owner was contacted and stated that several car keys had been piled up near the window as if they were going to be taken. Investigators reviewed video from a previous burglary at Winner’s Circle on June 21st where two BMW’s were taken. The man seen in the video was identified as Edmiston. The vehicles from that case were both located in nearby neighborhoods on June 22nd.
Edmiston was arrested for two counts of Burglary, Possession of Burglar’s Tools and Obstructing a Police Officer.
