The Cornhusker State Games Torch Run is scheduled to arrive in Lincoln Thursday night for pregame festivities at the Saltdogs game vs the Sioux City Explorers at Haymarket Park.
The Torch will be carried onto the field at 6:45 p.m. by Nebraska Air National Guard soldiers. The National Anthem will then be performed by Claire Ehlers, winner of the 2020 Cornhusker State Games National Anthem Contest.
The 2021 Torch Run is primarily virtual, with participants running in their home area and submitting photos. However, In-person legs are being conducted in several communities, including Thursday’s Lincoln appearance. The 2021 Cornhusker State Games offers competition in 70 sports for athletes of all ages and abilities. Most events take place July 16-25 at venues in Lincoln, Omaha and other Nebraska communities. Those interested can find information or register at CornhuskerStateGames.com.
