Lancaster County Clerk Dan Nolte Not Seeking Re-Election

By Karla James Jun 23, 2021 | 2:08 PM

Lancaster County Clerk Dan Nolte in announcing that he will not seek re-election in 2022.

“I appreciate the opportunity that the citizens of Lancaster County have given me to serve as Clerk. I have enjoyed the past fourteen and a half years immensely. We have accomplished a lot, improving customer service for the many critical functions the Clerk performs,” Nolte said. Nolte cited major improvements during his tenure:

●Property valuation protests are now easier to file. Nolte implemented a system that allowed property owners to schedule protest hearings at their convenience.

●Obtaining marriage licenses is more convenient. The office is now providing licenses by mail as well as in person. “Making marriage licenses easier to get was imperative. Of the 2,000 marriage licenses issued in Lancaster County, applicants indicated birth in more than 90 counties. Many people would simply not have been able to obtain a license without this change,” Nolte said.

●Website enhancements made access to county budget information more transparent and easier to find. “We developed a property tax calculator that gives property owns the ability to see how their property taxes are being spent at the county level. I think that has been a fantastic service to assist people in understanding county expenses.”

Nolte said that he had been considering this for the past few months. “I decided that I have accomplished what I set out to do in serving as Clerk, and that it is time to seek other challenges. I love Lancaster County and will be seeking opportunities to serve our citizens and make a difference in the community.”
