Lincoln Police were called to 60th and Adams around 4 Saturday morning on a report of gunshots. Officers found a man who had been shot in the face. 31 year old Deontae Abron of Lincoln was given aid by LPD officers at the scene until Lincoln Fire and Rescue took him to a hospital. He was then taken to a hospital in Omaha where he died of his injuries on June 15th.

Investigators conducted a number of interviews and determined there had been a disturbance involving a large number of people in the 6000 block of Adams Street who had been attending a party in the area. Around 4 a.m., a fight broke out and gunshots were fired. People then fled the area.

Officers processed the scene for evidence and searched the area. They also obtained home security videos from neighbors and businesses. Several shell casings were found and officers did see damage to a home in the 6000 block of Adams. Investigators continue to conduct interviews and process the evidence collected.

Deontae’s death is being investigated as a homicide.   LPD encourages anyone with information to call 402-441-6000 or make an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600. A large number of people were at the gathering and investigators are aware that multiple people recorded the incident on the cell phones. Police are asking for those individuals come forward.
