A traffic stop leads to the arrest of an 18 year old on drug and weapons charges. LPD says on Tuesday just before 8 pm an officer saw a white 2010 Honda Accord make several turn and lane violations before abruptly pulling into a parking lot at 48th and Old Cheney.
Officer Erin Spilker says the officer contacted the driver and three passengers and immediately detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted, and officers located around 20 grams of marijuana, a scale, and numerous empty plastic bags.
Officers also located a .25 caliber handgun where back seat passenger, 18-year-old Ausjaron Baxter, had been seated. During a search of Baxter, and additional 14 grams of marijuana was located. Officers determined that Baxter was actively conducting marijuana sales and was in a possession of a firearm.
Baxter was arrested for Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance and Possession of a Firearm while Violating a Drug Law. No other occupants of the vehicle were arrested or cited.
