Death Sentence For Aubrey Trail

By Karla James Jun 9, 2021 | 12:41 PM

Aubrey Trail is sentenced to death and 50 years for criminal conspiracy in the death of 24 year old Sydney Loofe of Lincoln in 2017. The hearing was held at the Saline County Courthouse in Wilber.

A 3 judge panel decided Trail’s fate. He spoke at the hearing and stated he had done terrible things in his life and he regrets killing Loofe.  He did not ask the court for mercy.
Trail said it was not premeditated murder but he killed Loofe to prevent her from going to authorities to report his cult lifestyle.

Trail stated, “I’ve done some terrible things in my life but this is the only thing I feel real regret about. In the past I could justify myself but not this time. Trail also said, “To be quite frank, and no disrespect to intended to the court, I couldn’t care less with what you do with me today.’

Prosecutors say Trail and his girlfriend, Bailey Boswell, planned to kill someone before Boswell met the 24-year-old Loofe on the dating app Tinder and lured her to them. Loofe’s body had been dismembered and she was found in garbage bags in ditches in rural Clay County months after her disappearance.

A judge disagreed with Trail’s statement saying the murder was not premeditated and said it was cold and calculated planning and she was needlessly dismembered to satisfy Trail’s desire and not to hide the murder.

Trail will join 11 others on Nebraska Death Row.
