Nebraska took a loss at the Fayetteville Regional Saturday 5-1 to the host Arkansas.
Starting pitcher Chance Hroch was chased off after just 3.2 innings, having given up three earned runs. Five more pitchers were needed to get through the remaining 4.1 innings. In total, Nebraska pitchers threw 181 pitchers over eight innings, giving up just five hits but walking 10 and adding another free base on a hit by pitch.
At the plate, the Huskers managed five hits, led by a 2-for-4 effort by Cam Chick. Nobody reached second base until the sixth inning. That’s when Joe Acker got to second before promptly scoring on a Luke Roskam single.
With the loss, the Huskers move to the loser’s bracket. They’ll face NJIT who beat Northeastern 3-2 earlier Saturday. The Huskers and Highlanders will play at 2 pm Sunday. The winner of that game will face Arkansas at 8 pm, needing a win to force a winner-take-all finale Monday.
