Grand Jury Clears NSP And LPD Of Wrongdoing In Deadly Shooting

By Karla James May 28, 2021 | 12:04 PM

A Grand Jury cleared Lincoln Police and the Nebraska State Patrol of any wrongdoing in the deadly shooting of a Wyoming couple on February 20th, 2021 in Lincoln.

26 year old Christian Alexander and 30 year old Hailey Stainbrook were suspects in the armed robbery of a man at a hotel parking lot near the airport. They took a man’s wallet and a short time later he received notification that his credit card had been used at a business. Law enforcement then went to the northeast part of the city to search for the two and their vehicle. That vehicle was spotted by the Nebraska State Patrol at North 56th and Superior and that started a pursuit.

During that chase the suspects pointed a gun at law enforcement. A cruiser intentionally rammed that vehicle near I-80 and 56th Street. Alexander then again pointed a gun at law enforcement after they had stopped. That is when officers fired back striking both Alexander and Stainbrook. Both later died of injuries in connection to the shooting.

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation and that material was presented to the Grand Jury.
