Lincoln Police made two arrests in connection to a drive by shooting on Tuesday, May 18th at 26th and J Street when someone from the back seat of a vehicle opened fire. A van was hit several times.

On May 25th around 3 p.m., investigators were in the 400 block of S 26th Street getting ready to serve a search warrant on a home. An investigator saw a black SUV in the area that was known to frequent that home. They also saw nine people get into the SUV, including several people that were suspects in the shooting.

Investigators then called for assistance from a marked police cruiser to conduct a traffic stop of that vehicle. When it was near 77th and A Street the vehicle slowed down and two passengers, 16 and 15 year old boys got out of the vehicle and ran. A traffic stop followed and the SUV did come to a stop at 18th and Camden Place. All of the occupants were detained and investigators learned that five were minors, one 18 year old, two 16 year old’s, and two 15 year old’s.

Investigators also learned there was a loaded AR rifle on the floor of the 3rd row of seats where several of the minors had been sitting. Investigators also found a loaded 9mm handgun in a purse on the passenger floorboard.

The driver, 40 year old Sentoris Barnes was a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm. She was arrested for a felon in possession of a firearm and for child abuse.

Passenger, 35 year old Latoya Barnes-Berry was booked for carrying a concealed weapon and for child abuse.

The search warrant was served at 10:30 p.m. at the home in the 400 block of S 26th Street but no further weapons were found. The 16 year old boy who took off running from the vehicle was found hiding in a shed in the 1700 block of S 77th Street and was turned over to a parent with no charges filed. The 15 year old was not located by officers.
