Thefts Of Catalytic Converters Continue

By Karla James May 26, 2021 | 11:37 AM

Lancaster County Deputies were called to Wildwood Lake on the county’s north border to investigate the attempted theft of a catalytic converter early Tuesday afternoon. The thief tried to cut the converter off of a pickup but apparently left before the job was done. On May 17th, deputies were also called to the lake after a catalytic converter was taken from a vehicle. There have been no arrests.

Catalytic converter thefts continue to be a big problem around the region. Three were taken from Nebraska DOT vehicles Saturday that were parked along the construction area of the South Bypass. The estimated loss is $3,000.

Between Friday, May 21st and Monday, May 24th, Lincoln Police report four were cut from vehicles near 15th and Cornhusker, the 6100 block of South 56th Street, 1500 South 2nd Street and from 17th and Cushman Drive.
