Concrete Industries of Lincoln is supplying 212 concrete bridge girders for the South Beltway project. Deliveries have started and most recently 153 ft girders have been delivered via Cornhusker Highway and 27th Street to the construction site near 27th and Saltillo Road.
Building the girders is done in CI’s north Lincoln operation. Jared Wagner is Engineering Manager for CI on this project and he spoke with KLIN News about the scope of the project as well as getting the massive girders to the construction site through the heart of Lincoln.
The most recent deliveries of the 153 ft girders weighing over 150,000 pounds has been done with a lot of coordination and support of Lincoln Transportation and Utilities, Lincoln Police and the public’s help and understanding.
Pictures supplied to KLIN by CI’s parent company NEBCO show segments of the transport down 27th street and what happens on the construction site.
KLIN’s Mark Vail had an extended interview with Jared Wagner and it’s below.
