The annual Nebraska Football Road Race is less than a month from its return after being virtual in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event is set for June 20 with the 5K registration cost set at $30 and the 1-mile Fun Run will be $25. Participants receive a t-shirt and bracelet.
“We’re excited to be able to do it in person,” University of Nebraska-Lincoln Senior Associate Athletic Director of Life Skills and Enrichment Keith Zimmer told Jack Mitchell on KLIN’s LNK Today Monday. “It really allows for interaction with our football team and teaches our football players a great lesson.
“It’s just a really good opportunity to come together, as Nebraska always does, and battle for a great cause.”
All of the money raised goes directly to pediatric brain cancer research at the Buffett Cancer Center at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. This year’s event carries extra weight after the passing of Andy Hoffman, father of Jack Hoffman and founder of the Team Jack Foundation.
Since Jack’s historic run at the 2013 Spring Game, the Road Race has raised more than $125,000 for pediatric brain cancer research.
