The Lincoln Indian Center, the Kiwanis Club of Lincoln and Decks Unlimited will host a powwow grounds revitalization kick-off event starting at noon Saturday, May 15th, at the Indian Center, 1100 Military Road.

The event marks the official launch of summer-long project that will rehabilitate the Indian Center’s powwow arena. With generous funding from the Kiwanis Club of Lincoln and Decks Unlimited, as well as volunteer support from those organizations and others, the project will replace the wooden arbor around the powwow grounds.

The Saturday event is free and open to the public and will feature a meal of buffalo stew and frybread.

The project organizers are still seeking additional funding and volunteer support to complete the arena renovation, as well as to construct a sidewalk from the center to the powwow grounds.
