Confidence was high, until it wasn’t.

Froggy 98 Morning Show co-host Nelson and KLIN Sports Director Kaleb Henry both attempted the food eating challenge from Lincoln’s The Warm Cookie Wednesday morning. Neither succeeded.

The challenge, officially named the Randy Santel Challenge after the YouTube professional eater who finished the dish earlier this month, consists of 10 cookies on top and bottom with homemade ice cream in the middle and whipped cream on top. The cookies alone weight three pounds.

While the challenge allows up to 35 minutes for completion, Santel did it in under 25 minutes.

Nelson was the first to give it a go during the Froggy Morning Show.

“I talked a lot of trash coming into this competition,” Nelson told Facebook Live viewers. “These are not ice cream sandwiches. These are ice cream subs.

“This was tough and I’m sorry that I let you down.”

Nelson stopped his attempt around 23 minutes after having eaten just 4.5 cookies and 20 ounces of ice cream.

Henry made his attempt shortly after on LNK Today with Jack & Friends, but was also unsuccessful. His attempt ended at 18 minutes, but he ate the same amount of ice cream to go with 9.5 cookies.

“Pain,” Henry said of the experience. “I let my daughter down, but at least we beat Froggy.”

As part of a bet between morning shows, Nelson must now sport a pair of Jack Mitchel Signature Cargo Shorts, currently available for purchase here.

Sharice Kucera, owner of The Warm Cookie, says Lincolnites can try the challenge themselves when their dining room opens again in about a month.
