Lincoln Police were called to 28th and Madison Avenue around 8:11 Tuesday afternoon to investigate a disturbance in progress. Neighbors reported that 26 year old Jesse Adams had been pounding on doors of homes and had smashed a vehicle’s windshield with a shovel.

As officers tried to place Adams into custody, he ripped his arms away from officers and refused to follow orders to stop resisting arrest. Adams pulled the hair of an officer and wrapped his arms around the officer’s neck in an attempted choke hold. The officer suffered abrasions to the hand, redness to the neck and scalp and had hair pulled from the roots. Another officer suffered a bruised shin.

Officers used a Taser to place Adams into custody and he was taken to a hospital for medical clearance.

Police spoke with a female victim who said Adams had thrown a glass jar at her and then damaged her windshield. Two other victims stated that Adams had yelled he was going to kill them.

Adams had 21.5 grams of marijuana and 2.3 grams of methamphetamine on his person. Adams was booked on two counts of assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, disturbing the peace, criminal mischief and possession of marijuana.
