Pair of Husker Receivers Enter Transfer Portal

The 2019 signing class of receivers is no more.

The final two from that class announced they were entering the transfer portal over the weekend. Neither Demariyon Houston or Jamie Nance registered a catch over their two seasons in Lincoln. Houston did not appear in a single game while Nance got on the field against Maryland in 2019.

Both Nance and Houston were down the wideout depth chart after this spring. The addition of transfers Omar Manning and Oliver Martin in 2020 and Samori Toure for this spring, plus the continued emergence of underclassmen Zavier Betts, Alante Brown, and Will Nixon, and several others battling for spots, neither player was looking at significant playing time as long as they stayed in Lincoln.

The other two receivers from the 2019 signing class had previously left, Wan’Dale Robinson to Kentucky and Darien Chase to Portland State.

Now more than a week since the spring practice season has ended and with the one time transfer rule in effect, this is the prime transfer window for those hoping to find new homes.
