By Tom Stanton Apr 29, 2021 | 10:31 AM

Lincoln Police are looking for the driver of a stolen vehicle who slammed into another vehicle at 44th and Normal just before 10:00 Wednesday night.

The driver of a 2017 black Toyota Yaris reported she was eastbound on Normal Blvd between S 40th Street and S Cotner when her vehicle was struck from behind causing her vehicle to flip onto its side. Witnesses reported seeing a white Infiniti sedan traveling at a high rate of speed, swerving in and out of traffic before colliding with the Toyota.

Witnesses saw the the driver of the Infiniti get out  and leave the scene.  Around 12:30 am, officers learned that the 2008 Infiniti had been stolen from the 2400 block of R Street earlier that evening.  The owner told officers  the vehicle was locked but that he kept a spare set of keys inside.

Officers canvassed both crime scenes, interviewed witnesses, and are requesting video from residents and businesses.  The driver of the Toyota reported minor injuries, but the vehicle is a total loss.  Damage to the Infiniti is estimated at $8,000.

This is an ongoing investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to call Lincoln Police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
