What is typically a wild couple of weeks will be even more so over just one week next year.
The Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) announced Tuesday that both the girls and boys state basketball tournaments will run during the same week in 2022. Normally, the girls tournament runs one week and boys the next.
The change is due to the University of Nebraska hosting the 2022 Big Ten Conference Wrestling Championships March 5 and March 6 in Lincoln at the Pinnacle Bank Arena.
This past season, the NSAA expanded both tournaments to five days due to limited venues brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. A format similar to that is expected, with the tournaments running Monday, March 7 through Saturday, March 12.
The girls finals will take place on the Friday and boys on the Saturday. Both will be televised on NET. A full schedule will be released at a later date.
