Lincoln firefighter spent more than nine hours Monday battling a fire at the First Star Fiber warehouse at 4850 N 48th Street. LFR’s Nancy Crist says a welder working on a conveyor ignited some cardboard.
“One of the problems was that there was so much debris that had to be removed. It was soaked down and wet,” Crist says. “All of that had to be moved out of the warehouse in order we could get to the scene of the fire.”
She says one firefighter was transported to the hospital with an unknown injury but is doing fine. She says firefighters had to be rotated due to Monday’s 90 degree temperatures. She expects damage totals to be significant.
