Lincoln Police were called to Country Inn & Suites at 1301 W Bond Circle for a theft. The victim told officers she had been staying with a friend, 35 year old Matthey Huston who had taken her backpack and a TV from the hotel room they were staying in.
Huston and another man were seen putting the TV in the back of a white Dodge Pick Up by the victim. Hotel staff called police when they saw Huston return to the hotel room and officers caught up with him just has he was attempting to leave. Officers found the backpack hidden behind a garbage can. The victim told officers it was hers. She allowed officers to search the backpack and they found syringes and marijuana that didn’t belong to the woman.
Huston was taken into custody and officers located a glass pipe with residue and a key to a Dodge vehicle. The residue field tested positive for methamphetamine. The TV was in the back seat of the vehicle.
Officers ran the plates and learned they had been stolen about 2 weeks ago from the 1200 block of Arapahoe. They also ran the VIN number and the pickup had been reported stolen from Seward on March 1st.
Huston was ultimately arrested for felony Theft by Receiving ($5,000 or more), Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Marijuana.
