A man is facing charges after a traffic stop Thursday morning at 27th and O Street.  An officer spotted a 2012 Chevy Chrysler 200 with no plates.  The officer spoke with the driver, 30 year old Claytavious Wiley who provided paperwork for the vehicle.  He said he bought the vehicle in May of 2020 but never registered it.  The officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and conducted a probable cause search.

The officer found a loaded Kel-Tec handgun in the center console.  The officer went to place Wiley under arrest when he ran.  That led to a foot chase and Wiley was arrested several blocks away.

The search of the vehicle continued and the officer located several other Nebraska In-Transit papers with different dates that had already expired.  There was marijuana residue scattered throughout the vehicle and several pills that require prescription found in a toiletry bag.  Wiley did not have a prescription for these pills (Quetiapine Fumarate and Buspirone Hydrochloride).  The officer also located a stun gun, brass knuckles, and ammunition.

Wiley was arrested for Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person, Subsequent Offense, Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person, Domestic Violence Conviction, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Obstructing a Police Officer, Possession of a Legend Drug, Possession of Marijuana, Operation of Unregistered vehicle, and Fictitious In-Transits.
