A kitchen grease fire caused about $30,000 in damage Tuesday to a home at 366 S 46th Street. Lincoln Fire and Rescue were called to the home around 4 p.m. Firefighters saw smoke coming from the front of the home upon arrival. Firefighters forced entry into the home and found the fire in the kitchen. They were able to extinguish the fire within minutes of arrival and the fire was contained to the kitchen.
Several animals were rescued from the fire and one received oxygen with firefighters using a pet 02 mask carried by every engine company.
A neighbor saw the smoke coming from the home and called 911. The homeowners were not home.
