Arrest Made In December 13th Burglary Of Jiffy Lube

By News Feb 4, 2021 | 10:50 AM

An arrest is made in a burglary dating back to December 13th.  Police then were called to the Jiffy Lube at 2402 S 48th Street when the manager reported someone broke into the business that morning by breaking a garage door.  Police reviewed security video and a man could be seen exiting a white Dodge Caravan with bumper stickers and a trash bag covering a window.  The man breaks the window and entered the building.  He then went into an office and pries open a safe removing a tablet, a re-programmer, and cash.

On December 31st, an officer contacted the investigating officer after seeing the photos that were placed on Crime Stoppers for this case.  That officer identified the man in the video as Chad Svoboda as they had just contacted him.

The investigating officer then observed that another officer had contact with Svoboda on January 6th and was equipped with a body camera.  The officer reviewed that video that shows Svoboda being contacted in the van with the same distinguishing features.  The officer is also able to identify Svoboda as the same person from the burglary.

On February 3rd, officers contacted Svoboda in the Hall of Justice courthouse and took him into custody reference this case.  Svoboda was arrested for Burglary and Possession of Burglar’s Tools.
