The Nebraska Department of Labor released the latest unemployment numbers for the week ending January 2nd. In general, regular claims are up but pandemic claims dropped significantly.
There were 2,680 new unemployment claims filed the week ending December 26 compared to 3,536 who filed the week of January 2nd. Ne Pandemic Unemployment Assistance claims dropped significantly to 13 last week compared to 284 the week prior.
Continued unemployment claims for the week of December 26th totaled 11,596 compared to 13,003 for the week of January 2nd, up 1,407. Regular Pandemic Unemployment Assistance claims for the week ending January 2nd totaled 3,908, down 1,698 from the week before.
Nebraska paid $4.7 million in total payments for the week. 148,083 individuals received payment since the pandemic started in March.
