On Sunday, December 13th at 2:15 a.m., Lincoln Police were called to a possible robbery at South Street Liquor at 10th and South Street. Police spoke with 31 year old Jason Geis who said he was driving westbound on South Street and saw three people breaking into store. He first called the owner and then 911.
While on the phone with dispatchers, he saw three suspects running from the scene. Geis said he accelerated forward and toward the suspects to follow them when he hit one, a 40 yea rold man. That man was taken to a hospital and is in critical but stable condition.
Lincoln Police spoke with Geis and looked at video evidence along with giving Geis a DUI test that showed his blood alcohol level was at .075, below the legal limit. Geis was cited and booked for 2nd degree assault, a felony.
Investigators continue to investigate the burglary. At this time they believe it was an attempted break-in as no entry was gained. There is damage to the front door estimated at $100. Investigators continue to identify the other two suspects.
