Police were called to Russ’s Market at 17th and Washington Street Monday just before 8 a.m. A manager said a man came into the store and selected a bottle of lotion from the shelf and started using it on his hands. The manager approached him and explained he would have to pay for it. The man claimed he had bought the lotion but did not have a receipt. He then left the store without paying for it. Officers were able to view store video of the incident and were given a description of the man.
At 8:30 a.m. police were called to the Casey’s at 9th and South Street because a man was inside and had stuck his fingers into a jar of Vaseline and was spreading it on his face. An employee told him he needed to pay for it and he walked out of the door.
The officer identified the man as 27 year old Khaled Khalil and he was also involved at the theft at Russ’s Market.
When Khalil was taken into custody a glass pipe with meth residue was found in his pocket. Khalil was arrested for two counts of felony shoplifting 3rd subsequent offense, possession of a controlled substance and possession methamphetamine.
