On Sunday, November 1, 2020, at approximately 5:10 a.m., LPD officers responded to a report of an abandoned, or hang-up 911 call traced to a residence in the 3400 block of North 48 Street. Upon arrival, officers made contact with an adult female who was not a resident of the home and an adult male identified as 47 year old Jose S. DeLira.
While officers were talking to the two, they saw drug paraphernalia in plain view and the smell of unburned marijuana. Officers obtained and served a search warrant at the residence.
Inside the home they found various drug paraphernalia that included pipes, baggies and scales, $4,521 in U.S. currency, $5,660 in counterfeit U.S. currency, 4.41 pounds of marijuana, .46 pounds of an unknown white substance, 2.7 grams of a substance that pre-tested positive for methamphetamine, 4.3 grams of an unknown substance, 159.5 pills of varying Schedule II, III, and IV controlled substances, 34.5 unidentifiable pills, and 6 handguns and 6 long guns.
Officers cited and booked DeLira for Possession of Controlled Substance, Manufacture with Intent to Deliver Controlled Substance, Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, Possession of Illegal Firearm (short shotgun) and Possession of Money While Violating Controlled Substance Statute.
